The director of a logistics business whose premises in east London were subject to an arson attack in an alleged Kremlin-backed plot against Ukrainian targets in the UK has revealed that the firm’s Spanish depot was also set alight.

Mikhail Boikov, who has dual British-Ukrainian nationality, has spoken about the arson attack in the capital for the first time, describing how it took about 60 firefighters more than four hours to get it under control.

He discovered his business was at the centre of an alleged conspiracy involving the Wagner Group of mercenaries only after he was contacted by a Sunday Times reporter. “Of course I’m shocked,” Boikov said this weekend. “Before I met you, I had no idea that people were in custody.”
