We've lost a number of much-loved celebrities already this month. Those who sadly lost their lives in April include popular BBC Line of Duty star Brian McCardie and renowned MP Frank Field.

The music world was also left mourning by the death of Birmingham icon Mike Pinder, the renowned founding member of The Moody Blues.

Brian McCardie

Actor Brian McCardie, who was best known for his role as the mafia boss John Thomas 'Tommy' Hunter in BBC drama Line of Duty died this month, aged 59. His wife Sarah announced the news on social media. She wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brian James McCardie, beloved son, brother, uncle and dear friend to so many.

“Brian passed away suddenly at home on Sunday 28th April. A wonderful and passionate actor on stage and screen, Brian loved his work and touched many lives, and is gone much too soon. Mike Pinder

Birmingham icon and Moody Blues founder Mike Pinder died at the age of 82. The legendary Birmingham band, known for timeless classics like 'Nights In White Satin' and 'Tuesday Afternoon', was formed by Ray Thomas, Denny Laine, Graeme Edge, Clint Warwick, and Pinder in 1964.

A Brummie through and through, Pinder's influence on the band's sound was profound, contributing significantly to their debut album 'The Magnificent Moodies' and later to the 1978 album 'Octave'. Read tributes to the star, here.

Samantha Davis

Samantha Davis, the campaigner and wife of Harry Potter star Warwick Davis tragically died aged 53.

Davis sadly died in March but her death was announced by her heartbroken husband Warwick in April. He described Samantha as “the greatest love of his life”. Samantha was an actor and also activist who founded Little People UK, the dwarfism charity.

Adrian Schiller

Last Kingdom and Death in Paradise actor Adrian Schiller sadly died "unexpectedly" on Wednesday April 3. The British actor passed away at the age of 60. News of Schiller's death sent shockwaves through the entertainment world.

Frank Field

Former Labour minister and crossbench peer Frank Field died aged 81 following a period of illness. Lord Field spent 40 years as MP for Birkenhead and was a pioneering voice for welfare reform in his career.

Duane Eddy

Rock 'n' Roll icon and Grammy-award winning artist Duane Eddy died aged 86 in April. Eddy was described in tributes as a trailblazing guitar player was behind the theme songs for TV series Rebel Rouser and Peter Gunn in the late 1950s and early 1960s. He influenced others like Bruce Springsteen, George Harrison and more.
