In Game 1 of the second-round series that night, the Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Denver Nuggets, the reigning NBA champions, 106-99, with 14 of Naz Reid’s 16 points coming in the fourth quarter.
That said, Anthony Edwards scored a playoff career-high 43 points. With 25 points in the first half, Edwards was unstoppable, and in the fourth quarter, Reid took over. Despite foul trouble, Karl-Anthony Towns finished with 20 points. Game 2 is Monday night in Denver. While this is a really proud moment for Rodriguez as he has always been so deeply involved in the sport and with the players, the former Yankees’ shortstop is not really at peace.

He is right now embroiled in a tough situation regarding the ownership of the NBA team. Glen Taylor, who is the co-owner of the team along with Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore, recently said, “The Timberwolves and Lynx are no longer for sale.” Rodriguez and Lore on one hand, presently still own 40% while on the other hand, Taylor and other limited partners own the remaining 60%. The parties are upset and the timing couldn’t have been worse. One might wonder why.
Well, the reason the partners, particularly A-Rod and Lore are so upset is because, the Timberwolves, who are trying to get the top seed in the Western Conference, are amid their best season in two decades. While this is a great time for the owners to stay in the game, the feud is something that has put Taylor and the other two in quite a predicament. Only time will tell how this is going to be resolved.
