Porsche driver ‘caught speeding at 142mph’ on dangerous NC500 route
A PORSCHE driver was allegedly clocked doing over 140mph on a dangerous Highlands road.
The flash motor was allegedly spotted hitting ridiculous speeds on the North Coast 500.
Highlands police chiefs deployed road cops to patrol busy tourist routes on what has been dubbed Scotland's Route 66.
They spotted the Porsche 911 on Monday as it drove along the A832 at Achanalt.
The driver, 43, was allegedly doing 142mph on the rural road when he was stopped by officers.
He has since been charged with dangerous driving and will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

Inspector Donnie Mackinnon from the Highland and Islands Road Policing Unit said: “These patrols demonstrate our ongoing commitment to road safety across the Highlands and Islands.
"I can assure the public that we are taking robust enforcement action against those who make poor decisions, take risks and put themselves and others in danger.
“Driving dangerously increases the likelihood of being involved in a collision, the consequences of which can be catastrophic.
"If you are caught and convicted, you will be fined and could lose your licence which will affect your employment status, financial situation and personal circumstances - please don’t take that chance."

Traffic cops are out in force across the NC500 speaking with tourists visiting the area.
Officers have been interacting with motorcyclists and people driving motorhomes and hire cars to boost safety on the roads.
We recently told how residents in a quiet town on the 516-mile route said their area was being overrun by manic car rallies.
People living in Lochcarron claimed drivers are treating the roads like a racetrack when the rallies are organised for the area.
One event sees flash supercars, including Buggatis and Ferraris, travel across the Highlands.
Residents claimed this has only added to the problem of motorhomes and other vehicles clogging the roads.
