Coronation Street's Bernie Winter finds her sad secret exposed next week on the ITV soap.
The character is forced to admit what she has been hiding for decades, and what her ex Denny has over her. Viewers have seen the character struggling recently, amid her son Paul Foreman's motor neurone disease diagnosis.
With Paul only having months left to live, Bernie was determined to keep her ex Denny away from him after he headed to the street last week. But Denny claimed to know a secret of hers and threatened to expose it, leaving her visibly panicked.
Since then she's been acting out of character and clearly hiding something, and now spoilers have revealed all. In upcoming scenes, Bernie breaks down and reveals her secret after concern from her daughter Gemma Winter.
What she has to say leaves another character reeling, and it leads to a sad death twist. After lying about her whereabouts and her keep disappearing, Bernie is forced to confess all.
Her partner Dev Alahan does some digging before confronting her, leading to her falling apart and admitting she has a secret son no one knows about. She reveals she had a child named Zodiac who was taken into care, before being adopted.
She lost contact with him, while his name was changed to Christopher Green. Bernie is hopeful to find her missing son, and makes her way through a list of Christopher Greens to try and find her son.
But as she gets to the last man with this name on her list, she makes a devastating discovery. As she prepares to visit this final Christopher, only to be told he died of cancer in a sad twist.
Bernie falls apart and hits the bottle, fearing she’s missed the chance to find her son. But has Zodiac, Zac for short, died and will Bernie face yet more grief ahead of son Paul's death?
It's yet to be revealed whether Bernie is mistaken and her son is still alive, while it does seem that the reunion will not happen. Viewers will have to tune in next week to find out if she tells her other children about her discovery.
