May Day, or the Early May bank holiday, took place yesterday (Monday) with many people enjoying a long weekend.
A lot of workplaces close on bank holidays, as well as schools. It's worth noting, though, that employers aren't obligated to provide paid leave on bank or public holidays, and these holidays can also impact the timing and distribution of any benefits.
Knowing ahead of time the bank holidays taking place in the UK is a good way to plan time off and use the dates to your advantage. There are still four bank holidays left in 2024 and the next one falls in less than three weeks' time.
