For those of us with a busy schedule, keeping on top of the household chores can sometimes fall by the wayside. Often, a messy home can be so overwhelming that you don't even know where to begin.

And it's often the most simple and overlooked tasks that can build up over time - such as cleaning out the crumbs from the bottom of your toaster.

Thankfully, one cleaning whizz on social media has shared a 'genius' tip for getting all of those pesky toast crumbs in a matter of seconds, leaving people in disbelief that they hadn't thought about it before.

TikTok creator and lifestyle influencer @anna_louisa_at_home understands that life can be busy, so when you do have an extra couple of minutes to spare, there are a few simple and quick chores that you can do.

Anna, who often posts cleaning and home hacks on TikTok for her one million followers, has racked up an impressive 753.9k thousands views and counting for a recent video focusing on cleaning jobs that take five minutes or less - with the toaster hack being a particular standout.

The tip, which people in the comments have hailed as 'genius' and 'more effective' than just emptying the tray, is to use a simple hair tool in order to clear out crumbs in your toaster.

Anna used a hairdryer to gently blow air into the holes of her toaster, which helps to dislodge any debris so that it gathers in the tray at the base. Then, all you need to do is remove that, empty it out into the bin and give the tray a quick wash with dish soap before popping it back into the toaster.

Several people took to the comments to share their disbelief at this hack, with one person writing: "Omg why have I never thought of the hair dryer," someone said, while another commented: "Hair drying the crumbs off the toaster is genius!!"

Puzzled, one person asked: "Why are you blowdrying your toaster?" to which someone else replied: "To knock all the crumbs down onto the trays that catch them. More effective than just emptying the trays."

"It blows out all the crumbs from the toaster! No matter how much I shake and bang it there’s always some left in it," admitted another commenter.

The second task that can be done in just a few minutes is giving your hob a quick wipe down of any crumbs or stains, which will give your kitchen a much cleaner look.

To speed things up further, Anna used a window vacuum on her electric hob - but you can just use a cloth and some surface spray if you don't have one of these.

Using a cleaning paste and sponge, such as the Pink Stuff paste, is also a great way to remove any stains and buff out your hob so that it shines. Then, just wipe away any residue and you're all done.

Finally, Anna recommended taking a few moments to unscrew your oven's extractor fan filters, which is the net-like part that sits at the front. This is an often overlooked job, but it couldn't be simpler to do.

Just fill up the sink with some soapy water and leave the filters in there to soak for as long as you need. You can also give them a scrub with a dish sponge and some soap if you want to put them back on straight away.
