2024 is one of the few Met Galas where we saw both Serena Williams and Venus Williams walk the red carpet. Both graced the event with eye-catching outfits that were in tune with the theme. However, the sisters did not arrive together. In fact, Venus and Serena had to go on a quest with their former rival Maria Sharapova, attempting to find each other.
During the Gala, Maria had a reunion with the elder Williams sister, and the two immediately went on a quest to find Serena. Tennis Channel shared the conversation between both stars, which started with Sharapova panning and taking a video of the two. “We are back at the Met. Where’s Serena?” she said as she panned the camera around to locate the Queen of the Court. Moreover, she looked for the younger Williams sister in a sing-song voice, remarking, “Serena. Where are you?”
As Venus laughed at her act, Sharapova said, “We’ll find her,” and Queen V affirmed the same, mentioning, “We’ll find her.” Sharapova was confident as well, as she said, “We’re gonna find her; we always do.” While Sharapova eventually found her way to Serena, Venus was not around at the same time. That’s when she took a similar video with her biggest rival.

“Hey Venus, I found her. Where are you?”. As Serena asked the same question, Sharapova continued, “Where are you, Venus? Hello?”. The five-time grand slam champion then said, “We’re having fun without you.” With this playful banter, Sharapova likely aimed to recreate the iconic 2021 Met Gala picture, where she was with both sisters.

“We were so happy to see each other again. We hugged, laughed, remembered anecdotes and told her we missed her on the court. Then we took the photo. The moral of this story is that even though we fought furiously on the court, years later, we still respect each other,” she noted.

At the moment, the interactions between the three show how whatever hostility they harbored against each other is long gone, and now they can move on to being friends.
