Porsche brings a splash of color to fashion’s biggest night out.
For fashionistas the world over, last night was one of the most anticipated nights of the year: the famed Met Gala. From Loewe to Balmain, Burberry, Versace, and more, some of the biggest names in the fashion world showed off haute couture creations on a star-studded array of celebrity guests like Kim Kardashian, Naomi Campell, and Chris Hemsworth. However, star power from the automotive world was present in New York City for the Met Gala festivities, as well, as Porsche announced that the new Macan SUV was the official electric vehicle of the event.
However, Porsche didn’t stop at just using the new all-electric Macan to transport select guests during the Met Gala. Rather, the historic performance luxury car manufacturer chose to also “paint the town purple” with a parade of special Porsche cars painted in the royal hue meandering by some of Manhattan’s most iconic landmarks.Cars that took part included a 2024 Porsche 911 Dakar painted in Viola Purple Metallic, a 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS, a 2019 Porsche 911 Speedster finished in a historic shade of purple called Vesuvio, a Porsche 918 Spyder hypercar, and a 1978 Porsche 911 Safari in lilac purple.
Led by Porsche’s second all-electric model, the new 2024 Porsche Macan Electric, the cars passed by some of New York City’s most recognizable sights, like Rockefeller Center, Christopher Street, and the iconic Soho House. At Soho House, actor Barry Keoghan hosted Porsche and Soho House’s Electric Night of Fashion event, with signature Soho House cocktails, celebrity guests, and a performance by British singer-songwriter RAYE. Last night during the Met Gala, New York City was the place to be, and Porsche played a big part in making it a night with an electric atmosphere.
