Striking gold (and silver!) on the Met Gala red carpet this year were the Williams sisters. Serena, ever the trendsetter, turned heads in a custom-made Balenciaga gown, shimmering with gold-coated silk taffeta and flowing into a dramatic train. Not to be outdone, Venus followed suit with a dazzling creation by Marc Jacobs: a strapless dress featuring a sheer panel adorned with countless mirrored paillettes, creating a captivating, reflective look. As the applause grew louder, the 42-year-old American tennis legend applauded her sister with an impactful two-word remark.
Recently, the elder of the two took to her Instagram account to share a transition video of how, from a basic tracksuit, Venus turned into a glamorous diva with her all-mirror attire. Along with that, she captioned the video, “#MetGala Glam 🌟” While fans raved about Venus’s outfit on her Instagram post, Serena seemed more touched by the unseen moments and the entire video, simply captioning it“Love this.”

The elder Williams sister, who was walking the red carpet with grace, stopped to talk candidly with Entertainment Tonight. Venus explained how it took 6.5 hours for her to get ready for the event and that she is “more intimidated” by the event than “any match” she has played. When asked about what took this much long to get ready, Venus said that the beauty nap, the hair, the nails(which she had to do over since she ruined them in the first place) are the things that took her half a dozen hours, a time that none of her matches went on till date.
Moreover, she spilled the beans about a custom she and her sister Serena had. Venus gave an explanation for their choice to keep their looks a secret until the big event, saying, “Actually, we like to surprise each other and not see what the other person’s wearing until the carpet. So I can’t wait to see it,” revealing her desire to see her sister on the red carpet.

However, this time Venus literally outranked her own sister in terms of her amazing fashion sense on the red carpet. Subsequently, despite dominating her younger sister, she confessed to a wardrobe malfunction with her fragile outfit.
Venus Williams even faced a small malfunction
Though the 43-year-old tennis player’s Met Gala attire certainly took center stage, surpassing even her sister Serena’s exquisite gold dress. The elder Williams sister humbly acknowledged a misstep with her outfit post-appearance. Reflecting on her attire, she stated, “It’s based off the theme of today; we’re showing all these dresses that are too fragile to wear.”
