St David's hotel in Cardiff Bay has revealed a £650,000 refurbishment of one of its luxury floors. The iconic building has been open for 25 years and quickly become a landmark in the capital since it first arrived in 1999.

The hotel said the Tiger Bay floor is renowned for hosting the stays of some of the biggest celebrities and sports stars. The rooms are said to offer a beautiful view of Cardiff Bay and with only 12 rooms and four suites available the hotel is offering an exclusive experience for those who can afford it.

Their super king Tiger Bay premium room can be booked from £164 per night, while a super king junior suite will set you back from £222, according to its website. Meanwhile a super king Tiger Bay suite with a harbour and bay view could set you back from £469. You can book your stay here.

Tiger Bay and its history has been described as a big influence on the style of the rooms themselves, however the hotel has attempted to put its own contemporary twist on the rooms too. Back in the 1880s, the Tiger Bay docklands found itself at the heart of Wales' industrial revolution and handling more coal than any other port in the world, creating a thriving close-knit community made up of more than 50 nationalities. During the renovation of the seventh floor the hotel has taken pride in the fact they have upheld their environmental commitments by using recycled materials and reducing water consumption. It comes after the hotel spent £300,000 improving its spa facilities last year, as part of a wider multi-million pound investment plan in the waterside venue.

Konstantin Grimm, general manager of voco St David's, said: “We are delighted to unveil our brand new Tiger Bay floor. Every aspect of each room has been carefully curated to provide the most luxurious stay for each of our guests, whilst still retaining the feeling of a home away from home. This substantial £650k investment into the Tiger Bay floor is part of a wider multi million pound project as we plan to elevate the entire hotel to a new level of lifestyle-luxury, whilst also taking our responsibility of creating a sustainable future seriously”. The renovation will be complete and open to the public by 2026.
