It’s time to move on from Jennifer Lopez and Kate Upton; there’s a new MLB power couple in town. And they are taking social media by storm. Olivia Dunne, the LSU gymnast with a massive social media following, is cheering on her boyfriend. The person who was once a top prospect, Paul Skenes, is all set to make his much-anticipated MLB debut for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Dunne has not been shy about sharing her excitement. She took to social media and shared the big news in the most unconventional way. In fact, she did it the Olivia-Dunne-Style. She posted a TikTok video with the message, “Here we go!” Her post was captioned, “POV: you both wake up from a nap and find out he’s in the MLB,” Paul Skenes is already a fan favorite in Pittsburgh, but with Dunne’s social media reach, his debut has transcended the typical rookie call-up.
Dunne boasts nearly 9 million followers on Instagram alone, and her enthusiasm is infectious. Paul Skenes, the right-hander, is a flamethrower whose debut is anticipated in the MLB. This season, he pitched in Triple-A Indianapolis, with 45 strikeouts in 27 1/3 innings along with a 0.99 ERA and 0.91 WHIP.

These statistics are impressive. But something that is even more captivating is that it is time to move on for some of the other famous sports people partners. JLo, who had been captivating fans alongside Alex Rodriguez and now with Ben Affleck, has been surpassed by Dunne’s giddy reaction, and Paul Skenes’ meteoric rise has garnered a different kind of attention. This is a fresh-faced young couple, both entering the start of their journeys in the spotlight.
Why everyone’s watching Paul Skenes’ debut
While Kate Upton’s relationship with Justin Verlander was a long-established MLB power couple, there’s a sense of newness and excitement surrounding Dunne and Skenes. They’re young, talented, and both coping with the newfound fame that comes with their respective successes.
