NFL superstar Tom Brady has brushed off claims that his ex-wife, Gisele Bundchen, is "hurt" and "upset" by the harsh jokes made during his Netflix roast.

The live Netflix event, "The Roast of Tom Brady", aired on Sunday night, featuring a host of comedians and sports stars including Kevin Hart, Will Ferrell, Bill Belichick, and Rob Gronkowski. The comedy special saw Brady at the receiving end of relentless jibes from friends and former colleagues.

Many of the jokes centred around the breakdown of Brady's marriage and Bundchen's new relationship with Brazilian jiu-jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente. However, it was reported that Bundchen was upset that the seven-time Super Bowl champion defended New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft but didn't come to her defence.

Brady had hoped the Netflix roast would ease some of the tension surrounding his personal life and career. The 46 year old also reportedly believes that Bundchen will always find reasons to criticise him, regardless of whether he defended her or not.

A source told the Daily Mail : "It just seems to Tom that Gisele will get angry with him for anything and everything and there is nothing he can do to change that," They added: "He will continue to try to be in her good graces for the kids but he also has to stick up for himself and going through the Roast was something he wanted and needed to happen."

"And he thinks that if it wasn't this, something else would have upset her, so there isn't much he can do to fix that."

Explaining his decision to appear on the special, a source revealed: "[Brady] has had an incredible life and career, along with bumps in the road from his relationships with Bill Belichick and Gisele and controversies over Deflategate. He wanted to do this in order to get a clean slate to move forward."

Brady and Bundchen were married for 13 years, sharing a son, Benjamin, and a daughter, Vivian. But the pair went through an incredibly public divorce in October 2022.

During the live show, Brady leaped to the defense of Kraft when Jeff Ross joked about the 82 year old's massage parlor scandal. Brady rose to his feet and told Ross: "Don't say that ---- again."

It was the only time Brady fought back against jokes, which has left Bundchen angry at the 'disrespectful' portrayal of their marriage. She believes Brady's handling of the roast is more proof that he continues to put his NFL career before family life, which was a key factor in the unraveling of their marriage.

Several jokes centered around Bundchen allegedly cheating on Brady. She started training jiu-jitsu in 2021, when she is believed to have met her instructor and boyfriend Valente, and has since denied cheating on the former quarterback.
