Former Kansas City Chiefs star Thomas Q Jones has given his seal of approval to Travis Kelce's foray into TV, insisting it won't interfere with his football career.

Jones, a former running back who amassed over 10,000 rushing yards in his NFL career and ventured into acting himself, believes Kelce can handle both worlds. Kelce has been in a relationship with pop superstar Taylor Swift since last year.

"When I played in the NFL, I didn't know I was going to be an actor," Jones told TMZ. "But I did a few music videos and cameos and things like that when I played in Chicago and New York. So I took advantage of some of those opportunities as well.

Having starred in movies like 'Straight Outta Compton' and appeared on shows such as 'Luke Cage' and 'Hawaii Five-O', Jones knows the demands of acting all too well. His comments come amid whispers that the Chiefs' management would clamp down on Kelce's TV projects if they started impacting his game.

"The Chiefs organization is still riding high from their Super Bowl victory and are very happy with Travis, that's why they recently gave him a new contract, but they are monitoring his outside commitments," a source told The Daily Mail. "It's fine to do commercials, TV Shows, and all of that, but if it affects his play on the field, they will make sure to shut that down immediately."

The insider remarked that Kelce is on a "long leash" thanks to the buzz his relationship with Swift has brought to Kansas City. However, should his performances suffer due to his off-field activities, the Chiefs are prepared to step in.

"The coaches and the organization don't anticipate that to happen but will criticize him if his play turns for the worse this upcoming season and they will 100 percent blame his outside commitments," the source continued.

These revelations follow the news that Kelce has been cast in 'Grotesquerie', an upcoming horror series on FX, where he'll act alongside stars like Niecy Nash-Betts, Courtney B. Vance, and Lesley Manville, as reported by Deadline.

With production just kicking off, details about 'Grotesquerie' remain scarce. Reports suggest a fall release, coinciding with the start of the NFL's 2024 season.

Kelce is also set to host 'Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?' a revamped version of the hit quiz show 'Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?' Beyond Kelce's hosting role, further details about the show have yet to be disclosed.
