The readers of the Hull Daily Mail and Hull Live have overwhelmingly voted Jacob Greaves as their Hull City player of the season with almost 50 per cent of the vote going to the popular central defender.

Greaves has enjoyed a stellar campaign for his hometown club and was named in the Championship's Team of the Season last month, before picking up a trio of awards at the club's presentation evening last week ahead of Saturday's season-ending trip to Plymouth Argyle.

The 23-year-old was arguably City's standout performer in a season that saw the Tigers challenge for a place in the play-offs before ultimately falling three points short of sixth place.

Greaves collected 48 per cent of the vote with skipper Lewie Coyle his closest challenger with 15 per cent and Ozan Tufan third with just over eight per cent while 11-goal leading goalscorer Jaden Philogene was fourth.

The talismanic youngster has now notched up a double century of league appearances for both City and his former loan club Cheltenham Town, and is regarded as one of the hottest prospects playing outside the Premier League and will be the subject of strong interest this summer.
