Sophie Evans has been whisked away on a belated hen party to Lisbon - and took a little bit of her rugby-playing husband with her for the ride.

The Welsh singer has documented her girls' trip to the Portuguese capital, with her and her friends really getting into the spirit of things with outfits which have special significance to her.

Sophie and Ellis Jenkins, who captained Cardiff and Wales before hanging up his boots for good last month, actually tied the knot back in 2022, with the performer posting on Instagram at the time: "Officially Mr and Mrs. Jenkins. 2022 is our biggest year yet. Love you so much."

Just before they became Mr and Mrs in Cardiff, Sophie enjoyed a "mini-hen", again revealing on social media: "Well, what can I say…. A mini hen that wasn’t so mini. I’m so overwhelmed with today. I’ve had the best day celebrating with this amazing bunch of ladies. Thank you so much for coming out to celebrate with me. #MrsJenkinsToBe love you all girls xxx."

Now her friends have pushed the boat full steam, with a European party the order of the day. "10/10 girls. All the versions of me love you! X 4 me’s 1 Ellis x," she wrote.

Posting pictures online, Sophie is seen dressed in Ellis' Cardiff strip, complete with an Ellis face mask and and bride headpiece. Her pals all dressed in previous roles she has played, including Dorothy from the hit stage show The Wizard Of Oz.

Sophie and Ellis met when they were both teenagers and now have a son together.

It's been a momentous few weeks for the Jenkins family, with Ellis announcing his retirement from rugby at the end of the current season. In his final farewell at the Arms Park, the former Wales skipper had to leave the field injured in a cruel end to a superb career for club and country.

In his retirement message to fans, he thanked his wife for the support she had shown him throughout his playing days.

He wrote: "To my wife, Sophie, thank you for always thinking I was the best player on the pitch, regardless of how I'd played, and for supporting me through the highs and lows throughout the years. Thank you especially for your support and encouragement when things weren't going my way during rehab and I was ready to give up."

In return, Sophie said in her own sweet tribute: “This day was going to come at some point and you’ve said for a long time now that this year would be the year you would retire, but I’m still very emotional for you. There’s no one I’ve ever witnessed with as much drive, determination, professionalism, leadership, empathy, heart and good looks as you.

"I actually admire you so much, you teach me things daily and to see you have the career you have with the set backs you’ve had has made me the proudest wife. You move on to new things, who knows what but I know you’ll be amazing at whatever you turn your hand to. For now you’ll be a bloody good house husband, the hoover is in the front room and I’ll show you how to turn it on - me and Jack are so lucky to call you ours. Love you so much THE GOAT (yeah I’m biased).”

Tonypandy's Sophie rose to stardom as a finalist in Andrew Lloyd Webber's talent show Over The Rainbow, went on to play Dorothy in the hit stage show The Wizard Of Oz and reprised her role of Glinda in smash West End hit Wicked.
