BEWARE: New Threats Emerge In Texas Due To Bird Flu’s Effects, Here Is What We Know
The recent news on the dramatic spread of Bird Flu has taken the great state of Texas into a panic-type mode. CBS News also stated that there are new threats that have been issued and it affects humans. In March, it was reported that the first human had contracted the Bird Flu, which was odd because Bird Flu is usually found in dairy and chickens. Officials say that the proper authorities that monitor the Bird Flu have been keeping a very close eye on it, but there is a possibility that now the virus can move from human to human.
WHAT IS THE WORST THAT COULD HAPPEN?
Texas and now more than three different states in the country. CBS News stated in a conversation with Gerry Parker, a veterinarian at Texas A&M that he was also surprised that the Bird Flu had even transitioned to cows it seemed very unlikely. Gerry also explained that officials were not necessarily prepared for the transition of cattle. There is a fear that if the virus can transfer to cows, and it begins to transfer to other animals like pigs, and humans then that will form another virus that we are not ready to treat or detect. If this scenario does take place, it will be a possibility that that new virus could spread from human to human.
WHAT SHOULD TEXANS BE PREPARED FOR?
Dr.Brilliant has been studying certain viruses such as smallpox since the early 70s he was asked are there enough tests being done to get an idea of how to control the virus. Brilliant says "They should activate every surveillance system that would help them find out which animals are sick. They should use wastewater and they should be checking the water in villages of ships and villages of airplanes. We have antivirals we have treatments. We can make a vaccine very quickly." This puts not only Texas but the United States in a very nerve-wracking mood according to CBS News the CDC says as of right now there shouldn’t be any real worries unless you are near infected animals or unpasteurized milk. Tests are still taking place to make sure that Bird Flu is under control.
