A suspect has been named after a child was sexually assaulted near a Burger King.

Mohamed Alhadi, of Halton Brook Avenue, Runcorn, was arrested at around 3.15pm on Wednesday May 8 and has since been charged with common assault and two counts of inciting a child aged 13-15 to engage in sexual activity by penetration.

Alhadi, 25, appeared at Chester Magistrates' Court today (Friday May 10) and has been remanded in custody to appear at Chester Magistrates' Court on Monday May 13.

The charges relate to incidents that occurred between 2.40pm and 3.15pm on Tuesday May 7 on the City Fields footpath near to Burger King in Runcorn and on Halton Brook Avenue, Runcorn.

Police Constable Haddon Hunter, of Runcorn Local Policing Unit, said: "We understand these incidents will have caused considerable concern within the local community, and I hope that these charges will provide some reassurance.

"I’d urge anyone with any concerns or information relating to these incidents to contact us on 101 or via www.cheshire.police.uk//tell-us quoting IML1817663."
