Devon is set for another day of clear skies and sunshine today (May 11), with many places to bask in temperatures of more than 20C. But it could be the last day to soak up the sunshine as a thunderstorm warning is on the way.

After last night's incredible displays of the Northern Lights, most of Devon has woken up to glorious sunshine. As the day goes on, the skies are set to get even clearer and the weather even warmer, with North Devon being the warmest.

Barnstaple is set to enjoy the best of the weather today at a balmy high of 22C, starting early this afternoon. The warmest beach today will be in Ilfracombe which is set to see highs of 21C.

It won't be quite so warm in Exeter and South Devon where temperatures are set to be between 15 and 20C later on today. The coolest place will be Teignmouth at just 15C. The Met Office is currently forecasting dry weather across Devon today and little cloud coverage into this evening.

Weather forecast for Devon on May 11 2024

Elsewhere, Plymouth is set to enjoy temperatures of up to 20C. It could even reach 21C in places such as Tavistock and Launceston.

It won't last long, however, as a thunderstorm warning is due to hit the region tomorrow (May 12). A yellow weather warning has been put in place by the Met Office, which covers most of Devon from around 12pm until 10pm.

This could cause sudden flooding and road closures in some areas, which the Met Office says poses a "small chance" of "danger to life". There is also a "slight chance" of power cuts and homes and businesses being damaged by floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.
