Carlton and Sneinton have been ranked among the best places to live in and around Nottingham, researchers have said. NiceAreas.co.uk has compiled a list of villages, towns and suburbs based on aspects that make locations attractive to those looking for a home.

The website focuses on a number of factors, including crime rates, house prices, advertised jobs and transport links as well as the proximity to schools. It says it uses multiple data sources and combines figures to create a score-like system to filter through more than 10,000 postcode areas.

Carlton rated highly when it came to local jobs, boasting a score of 88 out of 100. The town's railway station also meant it ranked as one of the best for access to trains.
