Graham Norton addressed the crowd booing during Israel's Eurovision performance during the grand final on Saturday night - and admitted it had been worse during rehersals. Israel's Eurovision Song Contest act Eden Golan performed the Ballard Hurricane on Saturday evening.

She was the fifth entry to perform tonight. Despite being met by a mixture of boos and cheers throughout her performance, the star looked unphased as she performed.

The UK's host Graham commented: "Well I'd say a mixed reaction from the 9,000 people here in Malmo Arena. At the open rehearsals we heard more booing, but we heard a lot of cheering tonight as well.

"That song is tipped to do very well tonight," the much-loved BBC chat show host added.

Israel's participation in Eurovision has been a source of controversy amid rising civilian deaths and a worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza, as the war between Israel and Hamas enters its seventh month. There have been large scale protests outside Malmo Arena where the event is being held.

Around 15,000 protesters were reported to be outside the venue as the grand final took place. Israeli singer Eden Golan today was ordered to stay in her hotel room by her country's national security agency two days ago as thousands of pro-Palestine protesters demonstrated in Malmo, calling for her to be excluded from the competition.

Meanwhile, Greta Thunberg joined the thousands of protesters in the southern Swedish city demonstrating against Israel competing in the famous song contest.
