Simon Jordan has called for Marcus Rashford to leave Manchester United for both himself and the club.

The under-performing England international has scored a mere eight goals this season. The Red Devils, currently eighth in the Premier League table, risk losing out on European qualification.

Just last year, Rashford was celebrating a 30-goal career-high season. But as he approaches his 400th appearance for his boyhood team against Arsenal on Sunday (May 12), his future with the club has become a topic of discussion among media.

The forward's skills were debated on Three Up Front, hosted by Simon Jordan and featuring former footballers Troy Deeney and Graeme Souness, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Former Watford captain Deeney argued that Rashford isn't in "the world class category", even going as far as saying he's "not even on the same planet" as Mohamed Salah after Jordan had claimed Liverpool's star man wasn't a world-class player,

Reflecting on Rashford's stay in Manchester, Jordan said: "I think he's done. The problem with Marcus Rashford now is that well has been polluted, I think he has to move on as much for himself as potentially for Manchester United."

Rashford has struggled in front of goal in Erik ten Hag's second season at Man United

Rashford's reported £350,000-a-week deal at Manchester United is set to run until 2028, and the Red Devils appear keen to keep him on board. The man himself has committed to the club, penning his loyalty in a Players' Tribune article back in February.

Referencing his recent dry spell in front of goal and some criticism over his perceived lack of effort, Liverpool icon Souness has weighed in with some harsh words. "When I was a player, no one was given permission to not track back, you'd sprint forward, and even quicker coming back no one was given a pass," the 71-year-old football pundit remarked.

"I'd say that's how it has been before my time and even now for the very best teams. If you're at a proper club with proper professionals, you're doing that in training each day and if you're not, they'll come after you. The coach doesn't even have to say it, that's what happens at the big clubs."

He didn't stop there, pointing out Rashford's showing against Luton Town as a sign of bad habits. Souness continued: "This should be hammered into you in the training sessions, what Marcus Rashford showed against Ross Barkley when they played Luton a few weeks ago, means he must've been doing that in training."

Souness concluded with a stark warning, suggesting that at a "proper football club" Rashford's attitude would not fly. "If he was doing that at a proper football club, they'd be all over him to the point where there would be fallouts, and if they didn't learn, they'd think about selling you," he asserted.
