Crystal Palace would consider a ‘big offer’ for Adam Wharton this summer, talkSPORT understands.

Bayern Munich have a long-held interest in the 20-year-old midfielder, who has enjoyed an impressive breakthrough in the Premier League with the Eagles.

Wharton only joined Palace on February 1 from Blackburn in a stunning £22.5million transfer for the then-19-year-old, with the south London club paying £18m up front.

Bayern were interested in the teen back then, as were Chelsea, following his rapid rise in the Championship, but Palace won the race.

That could be a costly mistake by both European giants, with Palace now set to demand a large fee should any club come calling in the summer - and it's understood Bayern Munich remain keen.

The deal for Wharton was another shrewd move by Eagles chiefs, who would have hoped he would follow the same trajectory as Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze at the club.

Olise and Eze were also poached from the second tier - from Reading and Queens Park Rangers, respectively - and have developed into key first-team stars at Palace, with both now linked with possible big-money moves away.

Wharton’s first three months at Selhurst Park have certainly been memorable, having quickly become a part of Palace manager Oliver Glasner’s starting line-up.

The young midfielder has made 15 appearances, playing a major role in Palace’s 4-0 demolition of Manchester United, and has weighed in with three assists, including one in Saturday's 3-1 victory over Wolves.

He has even been tipped for a late-call up to England’s Euro 2024 squad with bookmakers slashing the odds on his name being on Gareth Southgate’s list this summer.

talkSPORT's Adrian Durham is certainly a fan, as he remarked after the victory over United: "I could go through the whole Palace team last night and give them high marks out of ten.

"But Adam Wharton was absolutely superb in central midfield.

“He worked hard, had quality on the ball, good football intelligence.

“He’s only 20, but he's made the step up from Championship mid-season look easy. 10/10."
