Another heart-warming act is in the run for the Britain's Got Talent prize as Denise and Stefan Leigh received a standing ovation after their audition.

The blind couple from Stoke-on-Trent were introduced during this Sunday's instalment of the ITV talent show as they faced judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Bruno Tonioli and Amanda Holden but they immediately broke the ice as Denise, 52, let them know how she was feeling a "bit nervous, I need a wee but I'm fine", leaving judges and audience members in stitches.

But after introducing themselves to the crowd, Denise and Stefan took their respective duties on stage, the latter on the piano while his other half sang a rendition of The Sound of Music's Climb Every Mountain - an inspirational piece about taking every step toward attaining a dream - and their performance left Bruno Tonioli in tears.

"I’m inspired by you, I’ve learnt something today about your positive state of mind. You are an example", the judge told the contestants. Many viewers had similar reactions as they shared their thoughts about the performance on social media, and more particularly on X. One of them penned: "I love them", while another added: "These two are great."

Others rooted for the couple as they praised their sense of humour: "I like this pair, good sense of humour", just as another watcher chimed in: "Absolutely superb."

"This couple are a breath of fresh air. Genuinely funny and willing to laugh at themselves. I have a lot of time for people who are blind. Respect, respect, respect", another penned while one viewer concluded: "Denise & Stefan:- WOW I wasn't expecting that all. Denise has an amazing voice. Her story is so heartwarming as well. What an audition!!!!!"

Denise and Leigh finished off their show beaming, with the crowd and judges giving them a standing ovation, while their son Demetri, 11, and guide dog Tilly came to join them on stage.

The pair, who have been married for several years, shared their heart-warming backstory while Demetri was left to wait backstage with hosting duo Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly. Denise's eldest sons from a previous relationship Michael, 28, and Sam, 26, were also given a seat in the audience as they cheered for their mother. But her audition was also a time for her to open up about one of her biggest battles.

After introducing themselves, Denise and Stefan revealed they'd met 18 years ago on a train and struck up a romance when he asked her for the time, completely unaware she was blind too. Denise then added that she had been diagnosed with cancer in 2021 but was thankfully all in the clear.

Denise and Stefan's performance earned them a spot in the next stage of the competition as all four judges gave them a stamp of approval. How far will they get?
