Traffic on the M5 was brought to a standstill following a crash in Gloucestershire this morning (Monday, May 13). According to traffic monitoring site Inrix, delays were building on the northbound carriageway ahead of the rush-hour.
The crash took place between junction 12 for Quedgeley and junction 11A for Gloucester. It was first reported at around 6.40am and there were tailbacks of around two miles.
All lanes were closed at one point for the vehicles and debris to be removed. But all lanes have since reopened although delays remain.
Separately, there are delays on the M4 near Bristol due to a broken down vehicle. It's happened eastbound from J20 M5 J15 (Almondsbury Interchange) to J19 M32 (Bristol).

Person taken to hospital after two-vehicle crash
Gloucestershire Police said: "It was a two-vehicle collision on the northbound carriageway reported around 6.15am today (Monday). One person has been taken to hospital to be checked over and the carriageway has since been cleared."
M5 Gloucestershire update
Traffic returned to normal, earlier accident on M5 Northbound from J12 A430 (Quedgeley / Hardwicke) to J11A A417 (Gloucester / Cirencester).
Vehicles moved to hard shoulder. All lanes have now reopened, residual delays remain.
A417 delays

M4 delays now

Lanes reopened but delays remain
The latest update from Inrix says: "Queueing traffic due to accident, now on the hard shoulder on M5 Northbound from J12 A430 (Quedgeley / Hardwicke) to J11A A417 (Gloucester / Cirencester).
"Vehicles moved to hard shoulder. All lanes have now reopened, residual delays remain."
Motorway was brought to a standstill
But traffic has been released in lane one, lanes two and three (of three) remain closed.
