The bad luck of Novak Djokovic is still continuing this season. And like many of his fans, the tennis world is also expressing their concern over his current form. Andy Roddick, being one of them, recently discussed how, after decades of achievements and glory, Djokovic might now be “searching for something”.

When the World No. 1 returned after almost a month on court at the Italian Open, Djokovic Faithful were all ready for a groundbreaking performance. However, disappointing all his fans, his run in the Italian Open came to an end after a second-round straight-set defeat to Alejandro Tabilo yesterday. Putting this into context, Andy Roddick explained how, after these repeated losses, ” This is the first time in 15 years, it feels like Novak is searching for something.”

In Novak Djokovic’s two-decade-long career, this is one of the first times that he is going through a never-ending rough patch on-court. Djokovic, who is still title-less this year, has not experienced a year without winning a title since 2006! On top of that, the Serbian player has only played four tournaments (Australian Open, Indian Wells, Rolex Monte-Carlo and United Cup) this year so far. And among them, he has only managed to qualify for the semi-finals in the Australian Open and Monte Carlos. Roddick, addressed this, provided his insights, saying, “I think it’s hard. Even superheroes need to play matches sometimes.”

However, adding to this string of unusual events, the Italian Open, where ‘Djoker’ has previously achieved six titles, also did not prove to be fruitful for him this year. Not only in terms of his play but also he endured a head injury from a water bottle that further raised concerns over his upcoming matches.  But Roddick, trying to explain the cause of his declining form, further addressed this and said, “But that does not explain being flat in the Indian Wells or in the semi-final against Sinner in Australia.” However, Roddick also showed optimism regarding the 36-year-old player’s ability to shine again.

Roddick puts his “faith” in Novak Djokovic

After the Italian Open, Novak Djokovic will be next seen at Roland Garros. A tournament where he has previously won three times! But the question is, after enduring back-to-back defeats, will he be able to revive himself in the prestigious French Open? Although time will reveal it, Andy Roddick has high hopes.

“I don’t think it will surprise anyone if he turns up and plays great. I don’t know if us saying this is a cause for concern means we don’t have faith in this kind of macro Novak ability.” Although Roddick’s observation might seem alarming at first, it also serves as a wake-up call for the Serbian maestro to put an end to this streak of bad luck on-court.
