Fan favourite Whitney Dean is falling from grace as BBC One viewers have made it clear they are not happy with her latest scenes.
Tuesday's instalment of EastEnders ended with the market trader portrayed by Shona McGarty in a tricky situation as she was locked in adoptive mother Bianca's van with pal Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa), but things went from bad to worse as her waters broke, signalling she was about to give birth.
The pair of women were tricked into talking through another conflict in the van by Penny Branning, who'd spotted them rowing over Lauren's opinion of Zack Hudson. Moments before they were locked in Bianca's vehicle, Lauren told Whitney she wasn't fond of the hunk in a failed attempt at admitting they had romped behind her back.
Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) had then taken over the conversation and let her adoptive daughter know to never trust "green-eyed" Lauren, which only added fuel to the fire. But just as the long-time friends were trying to resolve their drama in Bianca's locked van and before Whitney announced she was giving birth, viewers swarmed over to X, otherwise known as Twitter, desperate to see the storyline draw to a close.
"Can Whitney leave already so over this storyline", one of them penned, while another echoed: "Whitney is on my last nerve. At this point, I'll be fine if she doesn't get her happy ending." A third TV fan fumed in agreement as they spotted a point of no-return in Whitney and Lauren's friendship: "Hate how they are gonna ruin Lauren and Whitney’s friendship."
Another lamented: "Honestly feel like Whitney has been leaving for about 5 years. I’m over it now dragging it out." Meanwhile, one fan has speculated Zack Hudson (James Farrar) may pay for his fling with Lauren with his life: "Whitney is going to poison Zack for revenge I fear," they theorised.
Although Bianca was once keen to tell Whitney about Zack and Lauren's affair, viewers have since theorised that wayward teen Britney (Lola Campbell) will be the one to spill the beans and their suspicions have been confirmed by recent spoilers as Whitney's final storyline will end next week.
In true soap fashion, Whitney will be finding out about Lauren and Zack's affair shortly after the birth of her daughter Dolly and just as she gets ready to walk down the aisle with the Walford chef - but will Britney be believed?
While viewers will have to wait before they can see all the drama unfold, Shona has made big moves for her career since leaving EastEnders. In late April, 2024, the soap legend announced she will be portraying Jenny in 2:22: A Ghost Story for its run at the Dublin 3Olympia Theatre, from June to August, 2024.
