Emmerdale actor Joe-Warren Plant is pulling pints to supplement his soap opera earnings.

Customers recognised the 22-year-old Jacob Gallagher star as he worked in his local boozer. One onlooker said: “Joe-Warren is a friendly lad – he only joined recently so he’s just getting started. It’s not the case at all that he has left Emmerdale, he’s still very much on set. But he knows via friends the owner of the bar and offered to help out.”

It is not known how much Joe-Warren earns from acting but he did manage to buy himself a 1967 Ford Mustang V8 Coupe when he was 16 – something few teens could afford.

The actor, who joined the Dales in 2010 aged just eight, has been at the centre of some of the show’s most memorable storylines. His character was dealt a bombshell by writers when he learned he was adopted, and the biological son of Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi).

Joe-Warren, who is dating Anna Norton, was written out of the soap temporarily in November 2020, to allow him to take part in Dancing on Ice.

Hotly tipped to win the show with partner Vanessa Bauer, he was forced to quit when they both tested positive for Covid-19.

In 2022 he took part in Ninja Warrior UK. His latest job on the side, at a pub near home in Blackpool, Lancs, comes as we revealed last month that cash-strapped Corrie bosses had sparked a panic by cutting the number of stars in each scene.

The decision was driven by budget cuts as the soaps face shrinking funds and status amid the explosion of streaming services such as Netflix.

We later told how Hollyoaks was being forced to cull 40% of its employees after bosses decided to reduce the number of episodes from five a week to three.
