Piers Morgan has shared his plans and hopes to interview Baby Reindeer creator, Richard Gadd.

The TalkTV host, 59, interviewed a woman last week, who believes she inspired the character, who is portrayed as a stalker in the drama series. She said Baby Reindeer is a work of fiction and slammed Netflix and Scottish comedian Richard, who wrote and starred in the show, saying their depiction did not reflect what happened and that it defamed her.

TV host Piers, whose interview on YouTube has racked up more than 10m views, has since backed up her comments while talking on the Lorraine show. Speaking to the BAFTA star about his take on Richard and the 'real' Martha, he said: "I think it's pretty disingenuous. They literally used parts of messages, which internet sleuths just tapped into her Twitter account and came up with the same phraseology." The former Good Morning Britain host also suggested Richard and Netflix had "failed in their duty of care" to protect the "real" Martha.

However, he went on to say that Richard has done an "amazing job" on the Netflix show. Piers told TV host Lorraine the one question he is still asking himself. Piers said: “Richard Gadd has done an amazing job telling this story. But the key question after watching the series and watching my interview is, is it actually a true story?

“And the key part of that is did she actually go to prison? Is she a convicted stalker? As I sit here Lorraine, there is no actual evidence so far that she has ever been in court. So we have to wait and see.”

Now, Piers is hoping to interview Richard, 35, after the woman appeared on his show to tell her side of the story. Towards the end of his interview with Lorraine, Piers called on Richard to appear on his Uncensored show to provide "evidence" of the events in Baby Reindeer.

Baby Reindeer, written by and starring Edinburgh Fringe star, Richard, topped streaming charts around the world within days of its release last month. The seven-part series tells a dramatised version of the writer's experience of being stalked by a woman named Martha (played by Jessica Gunning) in the show.

Following the series' release, a woman who believes she inspired the character of Martha spoke out after seemingly being identified by internet sleuths. The individual interviewed, who The Mirror has chosen not to name or photograph, insists that she is the inspiration behind stalker Martha in the show.

During the interview with Piers, the woman claimed several things about the Netflix series did not reflect what happened - including that Richard never offered her a free cup of tea, and she never messaged him as much as he said she did.

The Netflix show is said to be based on a 'true story'. However, the woman told Piers: "It's completely untrue. Very, very defamatory to me, very career-damaging. And I wanted to rebut that completely on this show. I'm not a stalker. I've not been to jail, I've not got injunctions. And this is just complete nonsense."

Following the release of Baby Reindeer, Netflix has not commented on any of the characters in the series.
