WORTHAM, Texas (KWTX) - Angeline Gama, 23, of Wortham, was pronounced dead at the scene where an SUV was struck by a train, The Texas Dept. of Public Safety said.

The deadly accident happened on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at approximately 4:00 p.m.

DPS Troopers responded to the crash on CR 1001 near SH 14, north of Wortham.

Gama was driving a Honda Pilot eastbound when her SUV was struck by a train while crossing the railroad tracks, DPS said.

Two child passengers, a 6-year-old and a 3-year-old, were transported to Baylor Scott and White in Waco to be treated for a possible injury.

“The investigation is active and ongoing,” DPS said, “Remember, always approach every crossing expecting to see a train and only proceed to cross when you are confident that no train is in sight in either direction.”
