HEWITT, Texas (KWTX) - A Hewitt man was arrested after driving his friend who shot at four victims, striking through one of the victim’s baseball cap, an affidavit alleges.

Lane Stratton is charged with four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony.

On May 14, officers with the Hewitt Police Department received reports of a shooting in the 400 block of South Old Temple Road.

Prior to officers arriving on scene, the victim identified the suspects over the phone with dispatch, the affidavit states.

Officers met with the victim and found multiple bullets had struck his vehicle.

According to the affidavit, one of the bullets entered through the back of the victim’s vehicle, passed through his baseball cap and left though the front windshield.

Three additional victims were on scene whose vehicles had also been struck in the shooting.

All victims identified the suspects and provided the license plate number of the suspect vehicle, according to the affidavit.

Stratton contacted one of the victims at the scene and spoke with detectives.

Stratton agreed to meet with detectives at the Hewitt Police Department and arrived with his friend.

While speaking with a detective, Stratton admitted to driving the suspect vehicle during the shooting and leaving the scene, the affidavit states.

Stratton also told detectives that his friend is the person who shot at the victim and their vehicles, the affidavit alleges.

Stratton’s friend, identified as a juvenile, was taken into custody and Stratton was moved to the McLennan County Jail.
