The moment Shohei Ohtani’s bobblehead night was announced, one thing became certain – it’d be a huge event. The Los Angeles Dodgers fans had been waiting for a long time for this occasion. Just a chance of holding that rare bobblehead filled them with enthusiasm. But for some fans, it also gave them a vision of huge Dollar signs. After all, a rare bobblehead of the world’s biggest baseball player could prove to be the easiest sell, right? 

That’s exactly what happened after the Blue Crew gave away Shohei Ohtani’s bobbleheads to the fans. Suddenly eBay was bombarded with Ohtani’s bobbleheads. From the common white ones to the super rare road gray ones, one after the other they became available for fans worldwide. And as expected, the prices were quite exorbitant. 

The cheapest was priced at $2,300 and that shows just how high the craze is for this particular item. However, the real surprise was that a fan charged $5,000 for Ohtani’s gray bobblehead! Talk about collector’s items, when the bobblehead was announced fans expected them to sell for $100 or maybe $200. However, looks like they may have highly undervalued it.

Though it’s not a surprising development, many fans were left surprised. While they liked that they could get their hands on this item, they wondered if the prices were right. After all, Ohtani has signed a 10-year deal with the Dodgers. As a result, more of his bobbleheads will be available every year. So paying these huge prices for something they can get their hands on later felt a little unreasonable.

As a result, the prices have dropped considerably ever since those peak levels. Though they’re still around $1,500, the cost is still high. Naturally, fans had mixed reactions to this development.

The Dodgers fans couldn’t help but wonder if prices like this made sense. However, they were also a little angry at fans for immediately selling such a special item. “The people selling it are not dodgers fans! Dodger fans will keep and cherish this bubble head. True fans don’t sell it,” commented a fan. However, while their sentiment was understandable, some fans supported this sale.

“You would too. Everyone needs money in this economy. Get that money!” a fan said. Certainly, people need to pay their rent too.  “They smoking,” a fan said regarding prices. The fact that the prices have dropped for Ohtani’s bobbleheads makes it obvious that this fan was right. “So every can remember the night the got blown tf out by the reds bullpen,” a user commented. Quite ironic how the Dodgers ended up losing on a night they designed to be celebrated.

Finally, a fan explained why the prices were high. “This is wild, but you’re looking at a unicorn player and a bobblehead,” definitely a player like Ohtani comes once in a generation or two. So now that the bobbleheads have become a collector’s item, what could be the correct price for them?
