The Ram 1500 TRX redefined what we thought was possible from a pickup truck and the crew from Hennessey Performance have just turned things up to a new level with the release of its Mammoth 1200 package for the TRX.

For a couple of years now, the Texas tuner has been selling a Mammoth 1000 package for the pickup, which, as you may have guessed, pumps out 1,000 hp. That package also includes several off-road upgrades to ensure the TRX isn’t just more capable in a straight line but also when the going gets tough. The Mammoth 1200 is a little different.

Hennessey has increased power to 1,200 horses thanks to an E85 tune on the heavily upgraded 6.2-liter V8. Key modifications include the fitment of a new supercharger, new pulleys, upgraded spark plugs, and an upgraded thermostat. Hennessey has also removed the Mammoth 1000’s off-road package, retaining most of the TRX’s standard exterior components. The only significant visual change is the fitment of 18-inch wheels.

To see how the insane pickup performs, Hennessey lined it up against the finest of all American supercars, the new Chevrolet Corvette Z06.

Compared to the TRX, the Corvette is at a significant power disadvantage as its 5.5-liter naturally-aspirated V8 is capped at 670 hp and 460 lb-ft (623 Nm) of torque. However, it weighs significantly less and has a quick-shifting dual-clutch transmission.

In the first race from a standstill, the Ram 1500 TRX gets the jump off the line, thanks in part to its all-wheel drive and monstrous levels of torque. As the speeds started to climb towards the 130 mph (209 km/h) mark, the Corvette closed the gap and finished neck and neck with the Ram. Things didn’t go quite so well for the ‘Vette in the second race as it ran out of tarmac to catch the TRX.
