Thomas Frank has played down rumours linking him with the Manchester United managerial role, expressing contentment with his "perfect football life" at Brentford and suggesting he might remain there for the rest of his career.

The 50-year-old Danish manager, whose name has surfaced as a potential candidate to take over at Old Trafford amid uncertainty surrounding Erik ten Hag's future, has reiterated his commitment to the Bees.

Despite a challenging season marked by injuries and suspensions, Frank has successfully kept Brentford in the Premier League for a fourth consecutive term, having achieved promotion from the Championship in 2021.

Brentford are often cited as an exemplar for clubs aspiring to establish themselves in the top tier on a limited budget. Meanwhile, Frank's reputation flourishes due to his adeptness in man-management and enhancing players' technical abilities.

"It's the perfect football life," Frank said ahead of Brentford's season finale against Newcastle. "I think it would be for any manager or player or staff member. We are not Arsenal or (Manchester) City or Liverpool, a club of that size that compete for titles.

"There's so many good things here. So many structures and processes and people that in my opinion make this the best possible place for a lot of people to work at.

"The culture is good. There's a good atmosphere. We are pulling in the same direction, we are aligned. That's not to say it's not stressful or tough.

"But there's many good things here. I think sometimes you need to acknowledge what you have."

Brentford held a respectable ninth position last season, which turned out to be their finest league finish since the 1937/38 season, and kept hopes alive for European qualification until the final day.

Injury strikes to key squad members including Rico Henry, Josh Dasilva, Bryan Mbeumo, and Ethan Pinnock coupled with Ivan Toney, last season's top scorer, being sidelined due to a gambling offence ban made this season particularly challenging since their promotion.

Despite these setbacks, Frank still managed to ensure the team remained in the division comfortably. Responding to whether Brentford could fulfil all his personal ambitions, he said: "I can't see why not. I think ambition is many things.

"I never know what's going to happen in the future. Maybe I'm staying here for the rest of my time in football. Am I going to another club? Maybe that's also a good opportunity. But you never know.

"What I know is that I'm very happy here. Ambition is 'how can I make the perfect club? How can we try to maybe win something?

"How can you beat the odds and maybe one year qualify for Europe? You never know, I don't want to set any aims."
