A supermarket on the outskirts of Bristol has denied introducing temporary age restrictions on customers buying eggs after a social media post claimed it had done so. The Sainsbury's Local in Keynsham has denied the restrictions, as the online post showed an image of signage claiming to explain the "temporary age restriction".

According to the signage in the image, the age restriction was implemented due to a rise of anti-social behaviour in Keynsham. However Sainsbury's told Bristol Live: "We've checked with the store and there are no restriction in place."

The signage in the photo read: “Temporary age restriction for eggs. Due to growing anti-social behaviour issues in the area, we are introducing an age restriction on the purchase of eggs.

“We will not sell these to persons under the age of 18. Thank you for your understanding.”

In December a Better Food shop in Clifton moved Tony’s Chocolate bars behind the counter due to theft which were blamed on gangs reselling the chocolate. This was also subject to a viral social media post which highlighted the issue.
