Extreme Heat Set To Scorch Texas This Weekend

Get ready Texas, it's about to get really hot across the Lone Star State.

Call it a taste of summer as we are still a month away from summer officially beginning in Texas. June 10 is the average day we begin seeing 100 degree days in Lubbock, but in 2024, it could happen as soon as Sunday.

According Weather Underground, Saturday's high in Lubbock will be 97 while Sunday and Monday's high temperatures are forecasted to be 100 degrees. In Abilene, the high temperature on both Sunday and Monday is forecasted to be 97 degrees. Houston will see high's in the 90's but with the humidity over the weekend, it could feel like triple digits according to Weather Underground. Adding to Houston's woes are the thousands that are still without power after Thursday's storm. Dallas is forecasted to see highs in the low to mid 90's over the weekend. In Amarillo, high temperatures are expected to be in the mid to upper 90's while Midland could see triple digit heat starting Saturday.

No matter what, it appears wherever you are in Texas this weekend, you better be ready for very hot weather.

ERCOT has not issued any watches or warnings for the weekend meany that the grid should be just fine as Texas will probably increase their power usage while having those air conditioners cranked up.

Drink plenty of water, stay cool, and check on any neighbors or family members that may be having trouble with with air conditioning. While it's going to be hot this weekend and into early next week, this is just a taste of things to come.
