In a few days, we will find out if Bronny James will decide to stay in college at least for another year or continue with his plan of entering the NBA draft. But with the way Bronny performed at the combine in Chicago earlier this week, he has definitely upped his draft stock and might be leaning toward the latter. While many have criticized Bronny for entering the draft too soon and claimed he might not be ready to go pro just yet, seasoned veteran Draymond Green continues to have faith in the teenager because he is aware of the harsh reality of every year’s draft.

Discussing Bronny’s draft stock on The Draymond Green Show, the Warriors superstar was highly impressed after watching the USC star’s showing at the combine, and claimed, “I think Bronny has a chance to be a very very solid guard in the NBA.” Then, for those who think that Bronny is not ready for the NBA, Draymond had an eye-opening message, “50 of the 60 guys that you draft ain’t gonna be ready to play next year… This is the NBA… It takes time.” Asking the fans to stop this “nonsense” Draymond claimed that many a time, even the lottery picks are not ready to play in the NBA because of the high level of competition.

So, it might be unfair for people to question Bronny’s legitimacy when he is still in the learning process like every other player in the draft. Moreover, Draymond believes that Bronny could be a great backup point guard in the league because he has the potential to be a great defender with insane athleticism, and he also showed at the combine by placing second in the three-point drills that he can shoot the ball when needed. And since the league has nearly sixty to eighty backup guards, Bronny could fit right into that role.

Bronny James’ starstruck moment could be a lesson

While fans and analysts nitpick every little detail in Bronny’s game, Draymond has continued to be an advocate for the teenager, maybe because he has been a part of another underrated player’s journey who proved everyone wrong. Yes, we are talking about none other than Stephen Curry, who just like Bronny was an undersized guard coming into the league and many believed would have a short-lived NBA career. But now, he is one of the greatest players in league history and even left Bronny starstruck at their last meeting. When asked the last time Bronny felt starstruck, the USC star made an honest confession, “I think when I seen Steph playing at Crypto a minute ago and came up to me and dapped me up.”

Despite being LeBron James’ son and having been surrounded by celebrities all his life, Bronny was starstruck after meeting Steph. But that’s the kind of impact the Baby-Faced Assassin has had on today’s youth. However, none of it would have been possible if years ago, Steph had given into the criticism and stopped believing in himself. And that could be a big lesson for Bronny. Almost the same height as Steph, Bronny has far better athleticism than him. On top of that, he can also shoot the ball at a decent clip. Of course, no one is expecting Bronny to be a superstar like Steph, but as Draymond said, there is a place for a player like him in the league regardless of what the critics say. What do you think?
