BARNES & Noble has announced the closure of yet another location.

The Glen Allen, Virginia location - about 13 miles north of Richmond - will shutter in a matter of weeks.

"It is with great sadness that we announce the closure of this bookstore, as the landlord has chosen to redevelop," the store shared in a Facebook post.

The store's last day will be on June 23.

"It has been our honor and privilege to be your bookseller here in Glen Allen for the last 23 years," the statement read.

However, it isn't the final chapter for the bookstore in the area, as a new location is being planned.

"We thank our wonderful Glen Allen booksellers for their many years of hard work and dedication, and they, as we, hope to welcome you back to our new bookstore in the near future," the statement continued.

Until that store opens, employees will have the opportunity to work in one of the other nearby locations.

There are three remaining Barnes & Noble storefronts in Richmond, all within a 30-minute drive of the Glen Allen shop.

Patrons of the soon-to-be-shuttered store were upset by the announcement.

"Sorry to hear about this closing. I’ve bought so many wonderful books at this location," one customer commented.

"This is the worst news I’ve had all year," another said.

The Glen Allen location is not the only Barnes & Noble store to close this year.

New York City's Tribeca location shuttered on January 14 after 16 years.

Similarly to the Glen Allen location, the Tribeca store closed because of the landlord's plan to redevelop the premises.

In a note to customers, the retailer wrote it was an "honor and privilege" to operate the Tribeca location.

Another Barnes & Noble store in Naperville, Illinois - a suburb of Chicago - also closed in January.

That store was open for 25 years.

"Sorry to hear about this closing. I’ve bought so many wonderful books at this location."

Meanwhile, fashion retailer rue21 has announced it will close all of its stores after filing for bankruptcy.

Sixteen of the more than 500 locations are in Virginia.

Two of those are in Richmond.

Liquidation sales are underway - though customers have been disappointed by what they've seen.

All remaining locations are expected to close within the next four to six weeks.
