The iPhone has rocked the same design since the launch of the iPhone 12 and the camera layout goes even far. The latest information suggests Apple could be looking to redesign the iPhone 17 'Slim' with a look that resembles Google's latest Pixel-branded smartphones. From what we have heard so far, the camera hardware could move from the left side of the device to the middle. Moreover, it could be placed in a horizontal layout instead of looking like a fidget spinner.

iPhone 17 'Slim' to come with a notable redesign, repositioning cameras from the left to the center with a narrow Dynamic Island, more

The Information reports that Apple plans to release a new variant of the iPhone 17 next year, which will come with major design changes compared to the current models. The camera layout has always been on the left side of the iPhone, and this could be the first time the company is looking to make a shift. It appears that the camera will be repositioned from the left to the center of the device, transforming the entire look of the handset.

It is also believed that the company will change the layout of the camera. Instead of a square camera plateau, the iPhone 17 model will have a horizontal plateau. The camera sensors will be arranged horizontally in the center. This will also make the device appear more symmetrical from the rear compared to the current iteration, allowing for little to no wobble when placed on the table or any flat surface.

It was recently covered that Apple is working on a new 'Slim' model of the iPhone 17, which will replace the 'Plus' model in the lineup. The device is rumored to be called the iPhone 17 Slim, but no concrete details have confirmed this information as of yet. Possibly, the moniker 'Ultra' could be used to justify the premium characteristics and price of the device.

Based on the report, the new and premium variant of the iPhone 17 will come with a 6.5-inch screen size and a notably thinner aluminum chassis. The rear camera hardware will move to the center of the device with a more powerful A19 chip powering the device. On the front, the iPhone 17 Ultra or Slim could come with a narrow Dynamic Island for less intrusion and an improved front-facing camera.

Take note that the device is expected to be launched in the second half of next year. This means that the company could be playing around with a handful of prototypes. Ultimately, Apple could opt for a different design altogether. We will keep posted on the latest details, so do stick around.
