A man was held on suspicion of drink-driving after a three-car smash in Birmingham. It follows a crash on Hamstead Hill, in Handsworth Wood, last week.

Emergency services rushed to the collision on Hamstead Hill, just after 8pm last Thursday, February 6. Three men were checked over at the scene before they were taken to Midlands Metropolitan University Hospital for further treatment.

West Midlands Police said one driver was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and was later bailed. Police said he suffered facial injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.

A police spokesman told BirminghamLive: "We were called to a three-car collision on Hamstead Hill, Birmingham, at just after 8pm last Thursday. Officers attended and the three drivers were spoken with. They were also checked over by paramedics.

"One driver was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving. He was taken to hospital for further checks on facial injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said in a statement: "We received a call just after 8.20pm to reports of an RTC on Hamstead Hill in Handsworth. Two ambulances, two paramedic officers, the Trust’s Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and the Mercia Accident Rescue Service (MARS) were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews found three cars had been involved in a collision.

"Three men were treated by ambulance staff for injuries not believed to be serious and all were conveyed to Midlands Metropolitan University Hospital for further treatment."
