A Bolton MP says she feels honoured to take up a new role strengthening the UK’s bond with Egypt.
This comes after Bolton South and Walkden MP Yasmin Qureshi was appointed as trade envoy to the North African country.
Her new role will involve promoting British business in Egypt and encouraging new channels of trade and investment.
Ms Qureshi said: “I am honoured to be appointed as the UK’s Trade Envoy to Egypt, a role that underscores the importance of strengthening the bond between our two nations.
“Egypt is a key partner for the UK in the region, and I look forward to working closely with Egyptian counterparts to foster trade, investment, and economic cooperation.
“Together, we can unlock new opportunities for both countries, creating a prosperous future for our businesses and people.”

The government says that Egypt is a growing market for British goods and services, with strong ties in areas like infrastructure, aviation, education, renewable energy, and healthcare.
Ms Qureshi’s appointment is aimed at enhancing likes like these and helping businesses in Bolton, Salford and elsewhere across the country benefit from closer ties with Egypt.
She will take on the new role alongside her ongoing work as MP for Bolton South and Walkden.
