Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder is maintaining a calm presence during this season's Championship title race with Leeds United - following his own side's latest win.

Leeds were held to a 2-2 draw against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday afternoon, and that allowed the Blades to move level on 80 points after they edged a narrow 1-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday afternoon. Daniel Farke's side remain top of the table, due to their superior goal difference, but the race for the title and promotion is heating up with eight games remaining.

Burnley are not too far behind on 78 points, leaving everything to play for in the final months of the term. Despite the intensity of the title race, Wilder had little to say on their battle with Leeds and Burnley post-match on Sunday afternoon as he remains laser focused on the task at hand.

"I'm a local boy," he told reporters post-match. "I've managed in six local derbies - and I understand the emotions of them and everything. I feel it, I breathe it.

"We're here to win and we've won another tight Sheffield derby. It hasn't been luck. We didn't come here expecting it to be a slow start.

"It was a big start from them and we got through it and then we got control back of the game. We win games of football. We're on 82 points [minus the two-point deduction] after 38 games. Sheffield Wednesday are on 51. Their season's done.

"Ours is still alive. We're 31 points clear of them, that's quite big. It's amazing, we weren't even thinking about going top of the division today. It was; 'We have the chance of doing the Sheffield double'.

"When I went for run this morning to clear my head at half-five or six o'clock, whatever daft time it was, just to get out the house, all I'm thinking about was winning a game of football today."

The season will now cut off for the last international break of the year, before domestic action then returns at the end of this month. Sheffield United will be in action first on Friday, March 28 against Coventry City and they can go top-of-the-table with a win before Leeds face Swansea the following day.
