Alison Hammond set for huge career change after admitting to This Morning 'lie'
Popular presenter Alison Hammond has made a peculiar admission regarding her future on This Morning as she reveals 'lie'
Alison Hammond, the much-loved presenter, has hinted at a potential career shift after jokingly admitting to 'lying' about This Morning.
During a playful game of two-truths and a lie on her weekly Smart TV podcast, guest Richard Armitage was stumped when trying to identify which of Alison's three statements was false, prompting her to quip: "I should go into acting".
Before this surprising revelation, the 50-year-old informed Richard that she had never watched herself back on This Morning, despite co-hosting with Dermot O'Leary for the past five years.
However, despite seemingly confessing that she had never viewed the ITV programme, she quickly clarified that it was indeed a lie, stating: "Of course I've watched This Morning, that's the lie."
While confirming that she does revisit her appearances on This Morning, she also disclosed that it was true she once owned an allotment and was named after boxing icon Muhammad Ali.
Celebrating her fifth year as a regular host on the popular ITV show this year, Alison and Dermot O'Leary took over from former husband-and-wife team Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford in their usual Friday presenting slot in 2020.
However, following the exits of Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby in 2023, Alison and Dermot have taken an even more prominent role on the ITV show.
Alison's path into television took a rather unconventional start as she was selected to compete in the 2002 edition of Big Brother, before she quickly saw her career progress, as she landed a role as a reporter on This Morning later that year.
Over the years, she has graced various other TV shows, including Loose Women as a panellist, Celebrity MasterChef where she finished in 10th place, and Strictly Come Dancing in 2014 where she also had another 10th placed finish with her dance partner, Aljaž Škorjanec.
More recently, she joined Noel Fielding to host The Great Celebrity Bake Off, with the show returning to our screens last weekend (March 16). Meanwhile, baking fans can catch the next instalment of the show on Sunday (March 23) at 7.40 pm.
