Just when we thought the “strawberry girl aesthetic” had peaked, Hailey Bieber gives it a fresh spring upgrade – trading in soft pinks for a juicy berry blush that brings a richer, more grown-up glow to the season’s makeup mood.
Spotted on Instagram, the model shared a carousel of pictures to showcase her very own Rhode Pocket Blush in a ripe raspberry hue swept across her cheeks. Fresh and outdoorsy, the berry-stained shade is perfect for transitional weather – instantly pepping up skin.
“Berry blush seems to be having a moment right now,” confirms legendary makeup artist Zoë Taylor. “It’s a beautiful way to wear an authentic flush. The blue undertones are so fresh and with the right finish, it can suit all complexions,” she continues.
“With blush just exploding over the last few years, I think we are getting a bit bored with our daily pinks and corals," muses senior director of artistry for Milk Makeup, Sara Wren. “A berry blush shade is the perfect, unexpected tonal shift for spring.”
Ahead, Taylor and Wren share how to recreate Hailey Bieber's berry blush with top application tips as well as the best products for the job…

How to nail the berry blush look
With so many different blush formats available on shop shelves, it’s easy for everyone to find a berry they like. “For a watercolour, matte stain effect I love using Milk Makeup’s Cooling Water Jelly Tint in Splash,” says Wren. “It’s easy to build and can be worn bold or just swept over the cheeks for a light flush.”
If you’re a berry blush beginner, go for a cream blush. “I really like using a liquid or cream,” says Taylor. “I think you lose the glossiness if you move into powder.” Her go-to cream? “For a natural skin finish, the Violette FR Bisou Blush is heavenly and fresh.”
In terms of application, both experts agree that fingers are a great tool – they help warm up cream products, giving you a seamless blend. For a stain, like the Cooling Water Jelly Tint, Wren recommends a fluffy blush brush for application and blending. “Work one cheek at a time with stains, they dry down quickly.”
To mimic Hailey’s natural flushed finish, Taylor says “apply small amounts and gradually build up to the drama you would like.” Noted!

Can everyone pull off a berry-toned blush?
“Berry blush is a complex colour, with blue undertones and yellow highlights,” explains Taylor, “but because of this, the colour is universally flattering.” It’s then up to you how intense you want to go with it. So rather than focusing on the shade, pay attention to the texture - “if you're new to berry, liquids and creams are going to be easier textures to work with. They blend better and can be worn sheer or bold,” says Wren.
“I don’t like to follow rules on shades and skin undertones,” adds Wren. “I find that wearing what you like and what makes you feel beautiful is always going to be the right tone.” But the wonderful thing about the berry blush is that it suits everyone – so you don’t need to worry too much about choosing the right colour for your undertones.

What makeup pairs well with berry blush?
A berry-toned blush works well with all makeup – it can be worn with a very paired-back minimalist look (as seen on Hailey), or it can be dressed up with a bit of an eye. Taylor loves it with a slightly blurred nude lip gloss and perfect skin.
“A statement cheek is always a fun moment for spring, but I love pairing a berry cheek with a berry lip,” says Wren. She suggests using the same shades on lips and cheeks as not only does this remove any guesswork, but it also creates a chic monochromatic look. Sold!
