Isaac Schmidt says he is waiting for his chance to show everyone at Leeds United what he is capable of, after suggesting he is happy to bide his time and wait for a chance. The Leeds defender has been something of a bit-part player this season in Daniel Farke's team and often a forgotten man in the squad.

Signed from St Gallen for £2.5m last summer on a four-year contract, there was hope Schmidt would be a useful addition to the Leeds squad in an area which needed strengthening, but instead he has played less than 30 minutes across the whole season.

While that may be the case, it hasn't stopped the defender earning a first call up to the Swiss national team this week, with the Whites man pushing for a place in he team to take on Northern Ireland and Luxembourg. Speaking to the Swiss media from the team's training base, Schmidt has spoken about his lack of game time at Leeds, with no suggestion he is worrying too much at this stage about a lack of minutes.

"The club showed me clear prospects and made it clear to me that they see my potential as a regular starter," he said. "It takes time to establish yourself at a club like (Leeds). I'm waiting for my chance."

While that may be the case, should Leeds get promoted to the Premier League this year, Schmidt may find game time even harder to come by with Farke so far not trusting the player to feature in the Championship, and with a big recruitment drive expected if Leeds do win promotion.
