Forest Green Rovers have reported an operational loss of £3,269,365 for the financial year ending June 2024.
That is a huge increase on the £1,362,432 for the previous year. Overall, the club have lost £3,626,404 in the financial year after tax.
However, the club did post a turnover of £7,935,177 for the last year. The loss would largely be down to the club's on-the-pitch success after suffering relegations in recent years.
The tax on loss has gone up an incredible amount between the years of 2023 and 2024 seeing it rise from £6,831 to £355,980.
The difference between the loss in the two financial years is just over £2.2m, something that Rovers would have anticipated given their league status.
In the strategic report, it says: “Following relegation to the National League, the club aspires to push forward and regain a position in League Two and beyond while recognising the requirement to invest in the first team.
"Despite the plans to move to a new stadium, the club continues to invest in the New Lawn.
“The club continues to invest for a sustainable future by supporting its academy to produce and retain ‘home grown’ players that are capable of adding to the first team squad.”
Dale Vince, chairman of Forest Green Rovers said: “No surprises here, the last two seasons’ results reflect where we’ve been, but these results also show the strength we’ve got behind the scenes.
"A club with an £8m turnover, backed solidly by its owners and an incredible group of loyal fans who stick with us through thick and thin.
“This season has been a turning point; we’ve found our rhythm again. 20 games unbeaten at home all season and a squad that has got its sights firmly set on getting back into the Football League. That’s the goal and we’re all in.
“Looking ahead we’ve got big plans, including the progress we’re making with the new training ground and Eco Park. That will be a game changer, not just for Forest Green Rovers, but for the community and the local economy.
"Progress is good, momentum is building and there is loads to be excited about.”
Rovers hosted 28 games at the New Lawn last season, with the regular 23 League Two matches and five cup fixtures.
They qualified for the knockout stage of the EFL Trophy having topped their group and eventually lost to Oxford United, they also reached the second round of the FA Cup having defeated Scarborough Athletic and then losing to Blackpool.
As for this year so far, they have won £11,500 in prize money for their participation in the FA Trophy, £24,375 in the FA Cup and they will have received a share of £1m provided by the Premier League for entering the National League Cup.
