An emergency incident is unfolding in the Hempsted area of Gloucester this evening. Police have been spotted on Soren Larsen Way.

Locals say officers, along with paramedics, were seen by the play park and wooded area, near to the timber yards on Wednesday evening.

An officer from the Gloucestershire Police Force Control Room confirmed a cordon is in place and officers are expected to be in the area for "the next few hours".

They added that there "is no risk to the public" and members of the local community "do not need to avoid the area".

Footpath cordoned off

A local has said the canal footpath between the wooded area on Soren Larson behind the park has been cordoned off.

Police statement

An officer from the Gloucestershire Police Force Control Room said: "There is an ongoing investigation near the play park near Soren Larson in Hempsted.

"There is no risk to the public and people do not need to avoid the area. Police tape is in place. Officers are expected to be in the area for the next few hours."
