Our girl Ayo Edebiri is starring in a romcom, and we're beyond excited. The Emmy-winning The Bear star will also executive produce Prodigies, written by and also starring The White Lotus and A Real Pain star Will Sharpe.
The seven-episode series will follow the story of Didi and Ren, two “child prodigies” who find themselves questioning their lives and relationships as adults.
We will also see Will in Lena Dunham's upcoming Netflix romcom series, Too Much, while Ayo has been hard at work on Call Me By Your Name director Luca Guadagnino's After The Hunt – also starring Julia Roberts and Adam Garfield – and Ella McCay, which tells the story of a young female politician, with Ayo acting alongside Emma Mackey, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jack Lowden and Woody Harrelson.

Prodigies plot
Apple's plot synopsis for Prodigies reads as follows: "This unusual take on a classic romantic comedy explores the universal complexities of long-term relationships through the lens of a very unique couple. Didi (Edebiri) and Ren (Sharpe) are two ex-child prodigies who have been together since they were children.
“Now in their early 30s, they are starting to question whether their very ordinary existence is living up to the extraordinary promise of their childhood. Inevitably, they find themselves asking the same questions of their relationship. As individual hopes and needs feed into and conflict with their shared lives, the series challenges the fallacy at the heart of romantic storytelling — that the tale is over when the heroes get together. In life, surely, that is just the beginning?”
We're loving this look at relationships in your 30s, and the ways in which our hopes, dreams and ambitions can conflict with our ideas around romance. It's always interesting to question the “happily ever after” narrative that we are constantly fed, and can't wait to see what Ayo and Will bring to the screen.
Prodigies cast
At present, Ayo and Will are the only actors confirmed to be attached to the project. But no doubt there will be some pretty exciting casting announcements around Prodigies pretty soon.
Prodigies release date
A release date is yet to be confirmed for Prodigies, but seeing as production is unlikely to have started yet we would say it's like to be in 2026.
