The new Vieve Poutder weightless lip mousse couldn't really have been better timed. Just as soft-focus, semi-matte cloud skin is taking off (again) for spring-summer, the same is true for our lip products. Granted, there will always be a place for fresh, sheeny glosses, especially as the weather warms up. But, since we love to switch characters, there's been an alternative movement for just-snogged, lived-in matte Rom-Com lips and the Vieve Poutder fits the bill.

Inspired by K-beauty, the soft-matte liquid lipstick gives lips a soft-focus, pillowy, velvety finish that you can build up from a sheer tint to a statement hit of colour. But what sets it apart from its predecessors is its lightweight it feel. Plus it's infused with hyaluronic acid and caster seed oil for a little extra hydration. The edit is available in four shades: Bellini (a peachy-toned nude), Pinkie (a light, cool pink), Miss Figgy (a soft brick brown) and Ripple (a deep rose pink).

Available from 1st May, the GLAMOUR team managed to get our hands on the product early to report back. Here's what our editors had to say when they tried it out…

The Product

Vieve Poutder

Shade: Miss Figgy

I’m not a matte lip girl (gloss till I die), mostly because my lips get super dry, and I cannot deal with that cracked, dusty feeling once a matte sets. But the Vieve Poutder is a totally different vibe – it glides on so smoothly, and the small applicator is perfect for getting into the corners and shaping a clean lip line. It actually feels nourishing, with a nice bit of slip that doesn’t dry down in a harsh way. The colour looked so pretty on my skin tone, and it left the nicest stain as I talked and ate throughout the day. I will say, the applicator’s on the smaller side, so it took a few swipes to build up the colour.

Shade: Ripple

I love a matte lip as I think it looks effortlessly chic and Vieve's Poutder is my favourite new spin on this classic. Normally I would use my finger to blur the edges of a matte lipstick but Poutder's mousse-like formula does the hard work for you and automatically softens any hard edges, immediately giving you a sexy 'just snogged' look. I chose the shade Ripple – a pretty raspberry shade that I know I'll be wearing a lot this summer. I like pairing it with just a swoosh of bronzer and little else for that sunkissed French-girl vibe.

Shade: Ripple

I'm not a traditional lip gloss girlie (the thought of my hair getting blown into a sticky gloss gives me shivers) which is why a matte version like Vieve's Poutder is the closest I'd get. I love the soft cherry colour of Ripple, but it takes quite a few layers to get enough pigmentation, and after a while my lips began to feel a little dry. For those who love a soft matte lippy this would be perfect but personally I still prefer something a bit more hydrating.

Shade: Pinkie

I thought I'd tried every matte lip formula around... until I was introduced to Poutder. Unlike liquid lipsticks, which dry down so severely they actually dehydrate your lips, this formula felt weightless. The pigment applied smoothly and provided a natural flush of colour to my lips which wore well throughout the day and didn't transfer. My only reservation was that the applicator is on the smaller side (a bonus when you're trying to be accurate while you put it on), so it'll take you a few swipes to completely coat your mouth.

Shade: Bellini

I’ve never been big on liquid lipsticks – too many flashbacks to the Kylie Cosmetics matte lip era. But Vieve’s new Poutder has me rethinking things. Inspired by K-Beauty, it’s a soft-matte lip mousse that feels weightless, non-drying, and super easy to apply.

I tried the shade Bellini, a pinky nude, however found that it was slightly too light for my olive skin tone. Although I was impressed with the powder-like texture, I’m a gloss girl through and through, so decided to pop my favourite Laneige tinted lip serum over the top for added warmth and shine. If you love a blurred, matte look, Vieve’s new lippy is a dream, plus it’s packed with vitamin E and hyaluronic spheres to keep lips soft and hydrated – a win win.
