From today (Friday, April 25), part of the footpath along Guildhall Road in Hull city centre will reopen following 'significant progress' along the edge of Queens Gardens.
Hull City Council has announced the footpath will reopen in phases, improving access for pedestrians. Parking bays which were within the works area will now be available for use.
The redevelopment of Guildhall Road is designed to enhance the area’s functionality and aesthetics and was widened to increased pedestrian traffic.
Gillian Osgerby, Hull City Council’s interim assistant director of major projects and infrastructure, said: “The Queens Gardens refurbishment continues to progress well, and this partial reopening of Guildhall Road is a key milestone.”
The Queens Gardens refurbishment will continue over the coming months. The project, which started in 2022, is expected to cost over £21 million and is anticipated to complete this year.
